About us
Tailored Childcare Management is a family company which has
been offering services in the childcare field since 1993.
We have a list of public and personal achievements of which
we are proud. These include:
- Development of centres including "greenfields" and refurbishment.
- Service delivery in a highly diverse client base including;
low socio-economic families, migrants, unusual family structures,
religious/cultural diversity, special needs, professional
families and traditional nuclear families.
- High standards achieved in a variety of audits including
Centrelink, Workplace Health and Safety and Childcare Accreditation.
- Low staff turnover and high staff loyalty.
- Strategies which allowed for growth in our client base,
even during a period of reduced government support.
- Developing a positive reputation in the communities.
Senior team members
John McKinnon:
Company Director. John had a career in finance prior to moving
full time into his family business. He has knowledge of small
business accounting needs and has instructed in the development
of our customised Child Care computer program.
Gloria McKinnon:
Company Director. Gloria is John’s wife and had a career in
teaching, including the completion of a Graduate Diploma of
Education (Computing) prior to moving into Childcare. Her
contributions are wide ranging and include: important input
into the design of the centres, stock and orders and keeping
abreast of changes and requirements of the industry.
Vicki Ward:
CEO. (BMusEd. GradDipED – EC. DipMont.Ed. CertIV WA&T) Vicki
is the daughter of John and Gloria. She spent a number of
years as a Secondary Music Teacher before studying Early Childhood
and moving into the Childcare field. Vicki was the Director
of the centre at Inala for 7 years and was the key player
in the development of Wavell Heights. She obtained the Diploma
of Montessori in 2002. Vicki has a great deal of experience
in working positively with staff, parents and government departments,
as well as staff selection, training, warning/counselling
and conflict management. She has also completed a Certificate
IV in Workplace Assessment and Training.
Karen Smith:
Centre Director. (DipTeach. – EC. B. Ed) Karen worked for
Oakbridge Investments for 4 years from 1996 to 2000. During
this period Karen was "contact Director and Preschool Teacher",
before returning in 2002 to the position of Director at Wavell
Heights. She has a Bachelor of Education as well as Early
Childhood qualifications. In 2003 she completed training and
during 2003-2004 served as a Validator for the National Childcare
Accreditation Council. Karen regularly visits centres to assess
standards.
